Description

Character and tasting

Allegro is Furmint as an everyday favourite: a classic, light dry Tokaji white grown on the volcanic vineyards of Istenhegy, Koldu and Betsek, from vines 20–40 years old. Fresh lemon peel and quince lead the nose, with a touch of caramel from the barrel behind them.

The sip is taut and crisp. Medium-bodied, it moves on lively yuzu citrus while the quince slowly unfolds; energetic acids carry a deliberately built structure — no more than it needs to be, yet defined and balanced — through to a surprisingly long finish. Eight months in second-fill Hungarian oak (Kádár) give the wine its quiet shading, never the leading voice.

At the table

Made for light summer cooking: grilled sea bass with herb butter, crispy grilled chicken and fresh, herby salads. A goat-cheese and rocket salad is a particularly happy match.
